Prepare Images for Sanity CMS
Package images with metadata, alt text, captions, and review notes.
The image is not the whole asset
A CMS image needs more than a file. To publish responsibly, store the information that future editors need to understand, review, and update it.
For each generated image, keep:
- File name: stable, descriptive, and slug-friendly.
- Prompt: the final prompt that produced the image.
- Alt text: concise and useful for accessibility.
- Caption: optional learner-facing context.
- Lesson placement: where the image appears.
- Review notes: what was checked.
- Source status: generated, edited, stock, screenshot, diagram, or manually designed.
Naming convention
Use names like:
course-ai-image-generation-studio-cover.webplesson-image-brief-workflow.webpdiagram-rag-retrieve-answer.webp
Avoid names like:
final-final-v2.pngimage123.pngcool-ai-pic.png
Suggested Sanity fields
Even if the current schema only uses image + alt text, you can maintain richer metadata in the source content or a content planning doc:
imagePrompt:
imageAlt:
imageCaption:
imageSource: generated
imageReviewStatus: reviewed
imagePlacement:Image generation brief
Asset: CMS image package visual Prompt: Create a clean educational illustration of a CMS image asset card containing a thumbnail, alt text line, prompt notes, caption field, and review checklist. Modern monochrome interface style with tonal contrast for emphasis. Use abstract placeholder text blocks, not readable paragraphs. No logos, no watermark. Alt text: A CMS-style image asset card with thumbnail, alt text, prompt notes, caption, and review checklist.
Try this: For one generated image, write the alt text before you upload it. If you cannot describe why the image matters, it may not need to exist.
